'The Music Man' postponed at Winter Garden Theatre

The highly anticipated revival will now begin previews in December 2021.

Following the news that Broadway performances will be suspended until May 2021 at the earliest, The Music Man has now set a new opening night. The revival, starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster will now begin performances at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Previews will begin at the Winter Garden Theatre on Dec. 20, 2021, with an official opening night scheduled for Feb. 10, 2022.

The announcement marks the first confirmed rescheduling of a Broadway show since the extended suspension from January to May 2021.

Hugh Jackman will star as Professor Harold Hill, joined by Sutton Foster as Marian Paroo. The cast will include Jayne Houdyshell as Mrs. Shinn, Jefferson Mays as Mayor Shinn, Marie Mullen as Mrs. Paroo, and Shuler Hensley as Marcellus Washburn.

Jerry Zaks will direct The Music Man, joined by choreography by Warren Carlyle, scenic and costume design by Santo Loquasto, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Scott Lehrer.
