‘The Music Man’, starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, adds final performances

The musical will now close on 15 January.

“The hunger of audiences for our show continues unabated. We are grateful to Hugh and Sutton and our entire glorious company for agreeing to add these additional 16 performances. The joy they bring to audiences night after night is incredible to witness and we know this The Music Man will be remembered long after the final curtain comes down. If we could go on forever, we would,” said producer Kate Horton.

In The Music Man, con man Professor Harold Hill (Jackman) arrives in River City, Iowa as a music teacher. He falls for the local librarian Marian Paroo, and she hesitates to expose his con after falling for him back. Learn more about why to see The Music Man on Broadway.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster will continue as Harold Hill and Marian Paroo in all performances to 15 Jan. 2023. The Music Man cast includes Shuler Hensley as Marcellus Washburn, Mark Linn-Baker as Mayor Shinn Jayne Houdyshell as Mrs. Shinn, and Tony Award winner Marie Mullen as Mrs. Paroo.

Jackman is a charm attack in suspendered slacks, nimble-footed, smooth but not slick, with suave vocals and a smile as assured as a railroad... Foster's Marian is wry but not cynical, sharp but still tender, a tough shell with a golden, runny heart like an egg. The Anything Goes star brings a precise wit to the role that is relentlessly delightful."

Jerry Zaks directs The Music Man, and the show features choreography by Warren Carlyle, set and costume design by Santo Loquastol, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, and sound design by Scott Lehrer.
