Take Me Out will open on Broadway in April 2021
Patrick J. Adams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jesse Williams will stay with the show in its rescheduled run.
Second Stage Theater announced that the scheduled production of Take Me Out will open on Broadway in spring 2021. The production, which was set to open in April 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 shutdown of Broadway theaters. The revival of the Tony-winning Richard Greenberg play will now start performances the week of March 22, 2021 at the Helen Hayes Theater, with an official opening date of April 22, 2021.
The previously announced stars Patrick J. Adams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jesse Williams will all remain with the production, and the remainder of the cast will stay intact as well. The cast features Julian Cihi, Hiram Delgado, Brandon J. Dirden, Carl Lundstedt, Ken Marks, Michael Oberholtzer, Eduardo Ramos and Tyler Lansing Weaks.
Take Me Out first opened on Broadway in 2003 and received three Tony awards, including Best Play. The play follows what happens when the star player of a baseball team comes out of the closet, and the teammates and the fans alike must grapple on and off the field with the unspoken prejudices that exist in America's favorite pastime.
Take Me Out is directed by Scott Ellis, with scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Fitz Patton.
