'Sweeney Todd' to offer digital Broadway lottery
Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford star in the latest revival of Stephen Sondheim's thriller musical, which plays the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre from February 26.
There's now another way to attend the tale. Sweeney Todd on Broadway will offer a digital lottery for its run, which begins February 26 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Sweeney Todd will offer lottery tickets for $30. The lottery is open for entries between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. the day before each performance. Winners will be notified just after closing, and they will have 60 minutes to claim and pay for tickets to the next day's performance.
Each person can request up to two tickets, and lottery tickets are subject to availability.
Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's musical premiered in 1979, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical. The 2023 production marks the show's third Broadway revival.
Josh Groban stars as the title barber of Sweeney Todd, a man whose quest for revenge turns to a murder spree with the help of his accomplice, pie shop owner Mrs. Lovett (Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford).
Who is in the Sweeney Todd Broadway cast?
Alongside Groban as Todd and Ashford as Lovett, the principal Sweeney Todd Broadway cast includes Jordan Fisher as Anthony, Gaten Matarazzo as Tobias, Ruthie Ann Miles as Beggar Woman, Maria Bilbao as Johanna, Jamie Jackson as Judge Turpin, John Rapson as Beadle Bamford, Nicholas Christopher as Pirelli and the standby for Sweeney Todd, and Jeanna de Waal as the standby for Mrs. Lovett and Beggar Woman.
