Summary
- A Paranormal Activity play will come to Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre starting August 14

- The show is written by horror playwright Levi Holloway (Grey House) and directed by Felix Barrett (Sleep No More)
Spooky! Paranormal Activity is coming to Broadway as a new play written by Levi Holloway. The show will play a limited 20-week run at the August Wilson Theatre starting August 14, with a September 15 opening night.
The Paranormal Activity play is inspired by the same-named horror film series, but it features a new, original story. When couple James and Lou move from Chicago to London for a fresh start, they realize their past has followed them and that it's people, not places, that are truly haunted.
The production premiered in Leeds, England in 2024 and has since embarked on a U.S. tour through Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and San Francisco. It just wrapped a hit run in London’s West End, where it will return for an encore engagement also in August.
“You want extended blackouts! Loud noises! Blood! This stage version [...] delivers the goods on that score and more,” London Theatre’s review of the West End production reads.
The U.S. production will have a three-week Boston run in July before coming to Broadway. Paranormal Activity marks Holloway’s second horror project in NYC, following his 2023 Broadway debut with the original work Grey House.
Directing is Felix Barrett, the artistic director of the immersive theatre company Punchdrunk and co-creator of all its shows including the long-running Sleep No More. The creative team also includes scenic and costume designer Fly Davis, illusion designer Chris Fisher, lighting designer Anna Watson, sound designer Gareth Fry, and video and projection designer Luke Halls.
Casting has yet to be announced.
“New York is my home away from home. I fell in love with the city when making Sleep No More fifteen years ago, and always marveled at the way audiences engaged with the show," Barrett said in a statement. "Having seen the incredible responses to Paranormal as it has toured the U.S., I’m beyond excited that it will be coming to Broadway and cannot wait to see how New Yorkers react!”
“That Paranormal Activity has earned the chance to trouble the sleep of Broadway audiences, that they’ll be immersed in the waking nightmare we’ve had the privilege to make, is the stuff of dreams," Holloway said in a statement. "I offer it’s unlike anything else on the American stage right now; a work of horror, heart and absolute mischief borne from one of the most profound collaborations of my career.”
