The new musical Let the Good Times Roll: A New Orleans Gumbo plans to open on Broadway in the 2026-27 season. A theatre, dates, and casting have yet to be announced.

Let the Good Times Roll is a celebration of the music, culture, and resilience of New Orleans, Louisiana — even through hardships like the Great Flood and Hurricane Katrina — through the eyes of a young woman and a diverse ensemble of characters living there.

A concept album of the show, released in August, features songs made famous by artists including Bessie Smith, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, The Meters, Harry Connick, Jr., Randy Newman, and rebirth brass band, which also appears on the album.

First seen in a critically acclaimed world premiere at Phoenix Theater Company earlier this summer, Let the Good Times Roll is created by 14-time Tony Award-winning producer and creator Jack Viertel, known for conceiving the Broadway musical The Prom and the revue After Midnight. Sara Edwards returns to direct and choreograph, with Sonny Paladino providing music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations.

Additional creative team members also have yet to be named.

"We set out to create a joy machine, a human story and a piece where New Orleans itself would become a principal character," Viertel said in a statement. "But the amount of joy the audience took from it every night was no doubt the best part of all. I’m excited and thrilled that we are moving on to New York and look forward to getting back in a rehearsal room full of wonderful people."
