Get Let the Good Times Roll: A New Orleans Gumbo tickets when they go on sale on New York Theatre Guide to see this thrilling, stirring new musical about the heart and soul of the Big Easy. Fresh off of its extended engagement at the Phoenix Theater, where it was the theatre's highest grossing and best attended premiere to date, Let the Good Times Roll the musical brings all the music of the Big Easy to the Big Apple.
Let the Good Times Roll on Broadway is an exuberant musical about of of America's most vivacious cities: New Orleans. Serving up a musical gumbo of songs that speak to the hearts of dreamers and their city, this exciting score includes songs made famous Bessie Smith, Dr. John, Professor Longhair, The Meters, Harry Connick, Jr., Randy Newman, and others.
Giving voice to those songs are six main characters, each with their own destiny in New Orleans, a city that has endured the Great Flood, Hurricane Katrina, sports victories, triumphs, and centuries of resilience.
“It was hugely satisfying to be given the opportunity to do this world premiere with the great folks at the Phoenix Theater,” said writer and conceiver Jack Viertel, a 14-time Tony Award-winning producer and creator, in a statement. “The results were beyond anything I could have imagined. We set out to create a joy machine, a human story and a piece where New Orleans itself would become a principal character. But the amount of joy the audience took from it every night was no doubt the best part of all. I’m excited and thrilled that we are moving on to New York and look forward to getting back in a rehearsal room full of wonderful people.”
