Blood/Love, a new original musical, will debut off Broadway this winter, running from February 13 to March 29 at Theatre 555. Opening night is March 3.
Described as a "vampire pop opera," the show follows Valerie Bloodlove, the world's first vampire and former queen of the underworld. In a sultry, decadent nightclub setting, she seeks a life beyond bloodshed and meets a mortal man with a dark secret.
Blood/Love is written by Carey Sharpe, who also stars as Valerie, and Grammy Award nominee Dru DeCaro. Hunter Bird (Masquerade) directs, and Jonathan Platero and Oksana Platero (Dancing with the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance) and Natalie Malotke choreograph.
The creative team also includes music supervisor Matt Hinkley, music director Ben Covello, set designer Jason Ardizzone-West, costume designers Alex and Juli Abene, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer Jessica Paz, projection designers 59 Studio, and prop designer Lauren Page Russell.
Additional casting has yet to be announced.
