
Marty Lauter joins 'Cabaret' on Broadway; new casting set
The performer known to RuPaul's Drag Race fans as Marcia Marcia Marcia is among multiple actors joining the Eddie Redmayne-led revival of this classic musical.
UPDATE: The Cabaret Broadway cast will also include dancers Alaïa, Will Ervin Jr., Sun Kim, Bryan Longchamp, Deja McNair, and musicians Brian Russell Carey (piano & bass), Francesca Dawis (violin), Keiji Ishiguri (dedicated substitute), Maeve Stier (accordion), and Michael Winograd (clarinet). Ida Saki and Spencer James Weidie are swings. This group will perform throughout the theatre before the show starts.
Willkommen! New cast members have been announced to join the upcoming Broadway revival of Cabaret, which begins performances April 1 ahead of an April 21 opening.
Joining the Cabaret cast as Victor and the understudy for the Emcee is Marty Lauter, known for their performances as drag queen Marcia Marcia Marcia on RuPaul's Drag Race and around the world. They previously appeared in Kinky Boots on and off Broadway and in the first national tour of Hello, Dolly!'s 2017 revival.
Newly announced cast members also include Gabi Campo as Frenchie, Ayla Ciccone-Burton as Helga, Colin Cunliffe as Hans, Loren Lester as Herman/Max, David Merino as Lulu, Julian Ramos as Bobby, MiMi Scardulla as Texas, and Paige Smallwood as Rosie. Hannah Florence, Pedro Garza, Christian Kidd, Corinne Munsch, Chloé Nadon-Enriquez, and Karl Skyler Urban serve as swings.
They join previously announced principal cast members Eddie Redmayne as the Emcee, Gayle Rankin as Sally Bowles, Bebe Neuwirth as Fraulein Schneider, Ato Blankson-Wood as Cliff Bradshaw, Steven Skybell as Herr Schultz, Natascia Diaz as Fraulein Kost/Fritzie, and Henry Gottfried as Ernst Ludwig.
This production of Cabaret, in which the escapist Kit Kat Club in Berlin gets slowly overrun by Nazism, comes to Broadway from an award-winning London premiere under the direction of Rebecca Frecknall. Her semi-immersive staging, which will entirely transform Broadway's August Wilson Theatre into the Kit Kat Club, won seven Olivier Awards in London, including Best Musical Revival and Best Actor for Redmayne.
