Celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's acclaimed folk opera Hadestown is heading to the Great White Way. Performances are expected to begin in 2019 following a limited engagement at London's National Theatre from November 2, 2018 through to January 26, 2019.

Co-developed and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown staged its world premiere at New York Theatre Workshop in May 2016 and went on to receive its Canadian premiere at Edmonton's Citadel Theatre in November 2017.

Synopsis: "Hadestown follows songwriter Orpheus and his mythical quest to overcome Hades and regain the favor of his one true love, Eurydice. Celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's mesmerizing melodies and poetic imagination pit nature against industry, faith against doubt, and love against fear in this genre-defying new work that blends modern American folk music with vintage New Orleans jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale."

The creative team behind Hadestown features choreography by David Neumann, music direction by Liam Robinson, arrangements & orchestrations by Michael Chorney (with additional/co-arrangements & orchestrations by Todd Sickafoose), scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Bradley King, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.

A Broadway venue and casting will be announced at a later date, however, the original NYTW cast included Nabiyah Be (as Eurydice), Damon Daunno (as Orpheus), Lulu Fall (as a Fate), Amber Gray (as Persephone), Patrick Page (as Hades), Jessie Shelton (as a Fate), Chris Sullivan (as Hermes), and Shaina Taub (as a Fate).

Hadestown is produced on Broadway by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy.
