Gene Weygandt joins 'Come From Away' Broadway cast

He replaces original cast member Joel Hatch.

Welcome to the rock, Gene Weygandt! Weygandt will join the Broadway cast of Come From Away in the role of Claude and others beginning March 22. He replaces original cast member Joel Hatch, who has played Claude since the pre-Broadway runs of Come From Away beginning in 2015.

Weygandt has previously appeared in two other Broadway shows: Big, as Paul, and Wicked, as the Wizard. Come From Away marks his first Broadway outing since 2005.

Come From Away tells the true story of how the residents of Gander, Newfoundland welcomed 7,000 displaced plane passengers at a moment's notice in the wake of 9/11, and formed lifelong bonds in the week that followed. The show opened at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in March 2017 and received seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. Christopher Ashley won the award for Best Direction of a Musical.
