Welcome to Hill Valley! Back to the Future on Broadway has announced new casting for the musical at the Winter Garden Theatre.

Evan Alexander Smith will join the cast as George McFly. He replaces Hugh Coles, who originated the role in Back to the Future's London world premiere (earning an Olivier Award nomination) and Broadway production. Additionally, David Josefsberg replaces Merritt David Janes as Strickland. Both new cast members will play their first performance on June 25.

Continuing cast members include 2024 Tony Award nominee Roger Bart as Doc Brown, Casey Likes as Marty McFly, Liana Hunt as Lorraine Baines, Jelani Remy as Goldie Wilson/Marvin Berry, Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff Tannen, and Mikaela Secada as Jennifer Parker.

Based on the 1985 sci-fi movie, the Back to the Future musical follows Marty McFly, a teenager who travels from 1985 to 1955 in a high-powered DeLorean car. In 1955, he meets his teenaged parents, almost breaking them up — and must get them back together to save his own existence.

Back to the Future on Broadway has a book by original co-screenwriter Bob Gale and new music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri (who composed the film's score) and Glen Ballard. The musical also features songs from the film including “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B. Goode.”
