The Broadway premiere of A Strange Loop, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by Michael R. Jackson, has confirmed the dates and casting for its Broadway run. As previously announced, the musical will play the Lyceum Theatre, with performances starting April 6 ahead of an April 26 opening.

Jaquel Spivey will lead the A Strange Loop cast as Usher, a Black, gay writer who works a day job as a theatre usher while writing an original show. He previously played the role at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. in late 2021. Spivey is making his Broadway debut with the role of Usher.

The rest of the cast — an ensemble of Usher's raucous inner thoughts, personified — includes Antwayn Hopper, L Morgan Lee, John-Michael Lyles, James Jackson, Jr., John-Andrew Morrison, and Jason Veasey, who all appeared in the Woolly Mammoth production as well as the 2019 world premiere of A Strange Loop at Playwrights Horizons off Broadway.

Aside from Jackson, who wrote the book, music, and lyrics to A Strange Loop, the creative team is led by director Stephen Brackett and choreographer Raja Feather Kelly. The musical also features set design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costumes by Montana Levi Blanco, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by Drew Levy, music direction by Rona Siddiqui, and orchestrations by Charlie Rosen.
