2007 Tony Award winners Announcements:



The 2007 Tony Award winners were presented this evening (Sunday 10 Jun) at a ceremony hosted at Radio City Music Hall. The 61st Tony Awards were dominated by two productions Spring Awakening and The Coast of Utopia.

Spring Awakening gained 8 Awards, inluding Best musical, and was the most decorated production of the evening. The Coast of Utopia gained 7 awards, including Best Play, making it the most decorated non-musical play in Broadway history.

Only one other production gained multiple awards, and that was Grey Gardens, which gained three awards, including Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Christine Ebersole.

David Grindley's revival of R.C. Sheriff's Journey's End, which played its final performance today (10 Jun), was named Best revival and Stephen Sondheim's Company, directed by John Doyle was named Best Revival of a Musical.

Legally Blonde was the biggest disappointment of the evening, the musical had been nominated for 7 awards, but walked away empty handed.
