Danielle Brooks is best known for her breakout TV role as Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson on Orange Is the New Black. She is also a stage veteran, earning a Grammy Award win and a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway-debut performance as Sofia in The Color Purple in 2015. She later earned Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations for reprising her role in the 2023 movie musical.
Additional stage credits include the 2022 revival of The Piano Lesson opposite Samuel L. Jackson and a critically acclaimed Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing. Additional TV credits include producing and playing the title role in Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia and hosting Instant Dream Home, earning Emmy nominations for both projects.
