Comedian Jacqueline Novak’s Get On Your Knees is the most high-brow show about blow jobs you’ll ever see. Ira Glass calls it a “nearly Talmudic dissection of a subject. Really funny and just really like nothing else.” Novak spins her material on the femininity of the penis and the stoicism of the vulva into an unexpectedly philosophical show that’s part feminist outcry, part coming-of-age tale of triumph. Get On Your Knees is at Cherry Lane Theatre to July 31.
Jacqueline Novak is an American stand-up comedian, actor and writer. She first performed Get On Your Knees at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2018. After an acclaimed run in Scotland, she presented the show in Los Angeles. In the audience were Natasha Lyonne and Mike Birbiglia who loved the show so much, Birbiglia decided to produce Get On Your Knees off-Broadway.
Get On Your Knees is presented by Orange is the New Black's Natasha Lyonne. Lyonne has also starred in the orignal production of Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss, and What I Wore. John Early directs, with Mike Birbaglia continuing as executive producer.
