The King and I, starring Kelli O'Hara, to be streamed with a Live Viewing Party

The Lincoln Center Theater production of The King and I will be available to stream for free from Friday, May 8 at 8pm (ET).

Shall We Dance this Friday evening? The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization is set to host a Live Viewing Party for the Tony Award-winning Lincoln Center Theater production of The King and I, beginning Friday, May 8 at 8pm (ET). The production itself, filmed at the London Palladium during its 2018 West End transfer engagement, will then be available to stream for free on Broadway HD across North America for a 48-hour period.

Viewers are encouraged to support theatre industry workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic by making a tax-deductible donation to The Actors Fund at www.ActorsFund.org/TheKingAndI.

On Broadway, this acclaimed revival of the 1951 Rodgers & Hammerstein classic played the Vivian Beaumont Theater from March 2015 through June 2016, picking up four Tony Awards (including 'Best Revival of a Musical'). The Broadway cast featured Tony Award-winning performances by Kelli O'Hara as Anna Leonowens and Ruthie Ann Miles as Lady Thiang, alongside a Tony-nominated performance by Ken Watanabe as The King of Siam, and all three reprised their respective roles across the pond in London.

Based on the 1944 novel 'Anna and the King of Siam' by Margaret Landon, the musical tells the story of a British lady, Anna Leonowens, who is hired by the King of Siam to serve as an English teacher in his palace in an attempt to modernize his country. The pair's relationship, at first marred with cultural conflict, evolves in unforeseen ways during Anna's stay. The score features the well-known Rodgers and Hammerstein standards "Something Wonderful," "I Whistle a Happy Tune," and "Shall We Dance?," among others.

The Viewing Party is presented by The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, Playbill and BroadwayHD, in association with Trafalgar Entertainment.
