Red Roses, Green Gold sets new closing date for February 18, 2018
The Jerry Garcia / Robert Hunter musical will closer earlier than previously scheduled at off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre.
MWM Live has announced that Red Roses, Green Gold - the new musical featuring songs by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter - will now close off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre on February 18, 2018. The production began previews on October 11, 2017, officially opened on October 29, and was previously booking through to March 18, 2018. Upon closing, the musical will have played a total of 21 previews and 129 regular performances.
Producer Gigi Pritzker released the following statement: “It is an honor to be a part of Red Roses, Green Gold, as I have listened to and loved this music for many years. We have been overwhelmed by the number of fans that have come out to see their favorite music in a brand-new way. As we catapult the production into its next phase we’re excited to watch what unfolds for the show.”
Plans are in development for an original cast album, as well as a National Tour in 2019.
Directed and choreographed by Rachel Klein, Red Roses, Green Gold features a book by Michael Norman Mann, as well as additional music & lyrics by Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bob Weir, and Greg Anton. Musical supervision and arrangements are by Jeff Chimenti, with music direction by Andy Peterson.
Synopsis: "Set in 1920s Maryland, Red Roses, Green Gold tells the fantastical and comedic tale of Jackson Jones and his family of swindlers as they gamble their way to love and riches."
The cast of eight actor-musicians includes Brian Russell Carey (as Dudley), Maggie Hollinbeck (as Glendine), David Park (as Liam), Michael McCoy Reilly (as Jessup), Natalie Storrs (as Melinda), Debbie Christine Tjong(as Bertha), Michael Viruet (as Mick), and Scott Wakefield (as Jack).
The creative team also features scenic design by Robert Andrew Kovach, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, sound design by M. Florian Staab, and projection design by Brad Peterson.
Red Roses, Green Gold Tickets are available now for performances through to February 18, 2018.
