QuaranTune #17: "People" from Funny Girl

A show tune a day keeps the quarantine blues at bay...

Today's #QuaranTune is a 1964 classic that reminds us just how precious people are...

Written by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, "People" first debuted in the 1964 Broadway musical Funny Girl and was performed by Barbra Streisand as the much-loved comedian, Broadway & Hollywood star Fanny Brice. The show tune quickly became eternally synonymous with Streisand's music career and has also been covered by a who's who of the music industry, most notably including the likes of Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Nat King Cole and, of course, The Supremes.

Streisand's performance was immortalised on the silver screen with the 1968 film adaptation, when she reprised her Broadway role for Hollywood. And it's this version of "People" that we bring to you as our #QuaranTune of the day...
