'Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody' closes off Broadway

The show was scheduled to run until January 2.

We don't love this news, actually. Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody is ending its Off-Broadway run just over a week early due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled to close its limited holiday engagement January 2, the show canceled a week of performances before closing fully, with its final performance December 18.

Love Actually? The Unauthorized Musical Parody is a spoof on the 2003 Christmas rom-com, which follows nine couples and their various romantic adventures, all of which intertwine just before Christmas at London's Heathrow Airport. The show was written by Bob and Tobly McSmith, the same creators of The Office! A Musical Parody and Friends! The Musical Parody.

The musical adaptation first premiered in New York in 2019, and the 2021 run at the Theater Center began performances November 24. The New York Theatre Guide review reads, "Love Actually? is wonderfully brainless fun, a deeply silly but highly enjoyable 90 minutes which at times has barely anything to do with the movie it's supposedly parodying, and is all the funnier for it."
