Joshua Henry and Tyrone Davis, Jr. join principal cast of 'Waitress' on Broadway
The musical is at the Barrymore Theatre through January 9.
Waitress has some hot and fresh new cast members! Beginning November 29, three-time Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry will take over the role of Dr. Pomatter, and current ensemble member Tyrone Davis, Jr. will take over the role of Ogie.
Henry is known for his Tony-nominated performances as Billy Bigelow in the 2018 Carousel revival, as Flick in the 2014 Broadway premiere of Violet, opposite Sutton Foster, and as Haywood Patterson in The Scottsboro Boys in 2010. His other Broadway credits include Shuffle Along, The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, In the Heights, American Idiot, and Bring It On: The Musical. Henry will take over the role of Pomatter from Erich Bergen, who was previously scheduled to end his Waitress run on November 7 but extended to November 24.
Davis has served as an ensemble member and understudy in Waitress since 2017. He has also appeared in Off-Broadway productions of The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Invisible Thread. Davis will follow Nik Dodani, who ends his run on November 27, in the role of Ogie.
Waitress follows an expert small-town pie chef who is newly pregnant and trapped in a dead-end marriage, and she hopes to bake her way to a better life. Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles currently stars in the lead role, and Ciara Renée will step into the role beginning November 25. The show opened on September 2 for its second Broadway engagement, which will run through January 9, 2022 at the Barrymore Theatre.
