'Waitress' original cast members join Sara Bareilles for Broadway return

Waitress original cast members Christopher Fitzgerald and Drew Gehling will star.

Joe's Diner is opening up again next month, and an all-star cast will be appearing alongside Sara Bareilles in Waitress on Broadway. Waitress is at the Barrymore Theatre from September 2 - Jan. 9, 2022.

Christopher Fitzgerald will reprise his Tony-nominated role as Ogie in Waitress, joined by Drew Gehling who will reprise the role of Dr. Pomatter, Eric Anderson as Cal and Dakin Matthews as Joe. All four actors originated their respective roles on Broadway.

Joe Tippett will play the role of Earl. Tippett played Earl at the out-of-town tryout at the American Repertory Theater, and later reprised the role on Broadway. Tippett is best known for starring in television series including Rise and Mare of Easttown.

After originating the role of Nurse Norma in Waitress, Charity Angel Dawson will play Becky. Caitlin Houlahan will play Dawn, joined by an ensemble completed by Tyrone Davis, Jr., Matt DeAngelis, Andrew Fitch, Henry Gottfried, Molly Jobe, Emily Koch, Max Kumangai, Anastacia McCleskey, and Stephanie Torns.

Sara Bareilles will play Jenna in Waitress from September 2 - October 17. Casting for Jenna in Waitress from October 18 is to be announced.

Waitress follows Jenna, a small-town waitress and pie maker who dreams of bigger things while supported by her gynaecologist, Dr. Pomatter. Waitress ran at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for just under four years, with a final performance on Jan. 5, 2020.

Waitress features a book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro. The Broadway revival of Waitress will run as a limited engagement to Jan. 9, 2022. Paradise Square will follow Waitress at the Barrymore Theatre, and is scheduled to start previews from Feb. 22, 2022.

Waitress is at the Barrymore Theatre from September 2.
