Producer Daryl Roth has announced that Oscar, Emmy & Golden Globe winner Christine Lahti is set to star as Gloria Steinem in the world premiere of Gloria: A Life, written by Tony Award nominee Emily Mann and directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus.

Previews are set to begin at off-Broadway's Daryl Roth Theatre on October 2, 2018, ahead of an official opening on October 18.

Christine Lahti's past Broadway credits include God of Carnage, The Heidi Chronicles, Present Laughter, Scenes and Revelations, Divison Street and Loose Ends, and she has also appeared in numerous off-Broadway productions, including the recent Signature Theatre production of The Red Letter Plays: F**king A. On screen, she is perhaps best known for her Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning TV role as Dr. Kathryn Austin on "Chicago Hope".

Ms. Lahti released the following statement: "Gloria Steinem helped me find feminism, which has been my life jacket, a way to navigate through a world that doesn't treat girls and women like full human beings. For over forty years, she has worked tirelessly to enrich, empower and save women's lives. To be able to play her and tell her remarkable story is one of the greatest thrills and honors of my life, not to mention my career."

Ms. Steinem herself also commented: "I'm honored to be represented by Christine, and I know I will learn from her insights, too."

Synopsis: "Gloria: A Life weaves together personal and history-changing moments of the past fifty years, from consciousness among a few women, to the majority tipping point of national and global consciousness that we are now witnessing. Starting with Gloria's early adventures as a rare female reporter, the revelations of the play include stories of the people who inspired her and led her to inspire others."

The production will be split into two parts, with Act I telling the story of Gloria Steinem's life and Act II taking the form of a "Talking Circle" where audience members are encouraged to further explore the themes of the play in an interactive discussion.

Gloria: A Life is also proud to feature an all-female creative and producing team.
