The world premiere of Wish You Were Here, a new Off-Broadway play by Sanaz Toossi, has announced its full cast. Performances begin April 13 at Playwrights Horizons ahead of a May 2 opening night, and the show runs through May 22.

The cast, composed entirely of Iranian and Iranian-American women, includes Nikki Massoud, Marjan Neshat, Nazanin Nour, Artemis Pebdani, and Roxanna Hope Radja.

Wish You Were Here takes place in 1978 amid the Iranian Revolution, when protests are first beginning to break out. In one suburb, a tight-knit group of women tries to hang onto normalcy, but each one is soon forced to emigrate or stay in Iran amid the unrest, facing a rocky and uncertain future either way. The play covers 13 years' worth of these women's far-flung lives as they are broken apart and search for a stable home.

Wish You Were Here was meant to premiere at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2020 but was canceled amid the pandemic. Toossi is currently represented off Broadway with English at Atlantic Theater Company, running through March 13.
