
'Wicked' sets new Broadway cast, including Donna McKechnie
Beginning in March, five new actors will join the long-running musical, which celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Gershwin Theatre in October 2023.
How wonderful! Five new principal cast members will join Wicked on Broadway beginning on March 5 at the Gershwin Theatre.
Mary Kate Morrissey, the current standby for the role of Elphaba, will assume the role full-time, and Alexandra Socha will play Glinda. Also joining are Tony Award winner Donna McKechnie as Madame Morrible, Natalie Ortega as Nessarose, and Brad Oscar as the Wizard.
Current cast members Alyssa Fox (Elphaba), McKenzie Kurtz (Glinda), John Dossett (Wizard), Michele Pawk (Madame Morrible), and Kimber Elayne Sprawl (Nessarose) will play their last performance on March 3.
Continuing Wicked cast members include Jordan Litz as Fiyero, Jake Pedersen as Boq, and William Youmans as Doctor Dillamond.
Wicked takes place before the events of The Wizard of Oz, following witches Elphaba and Glinda, who are best friends before one of them is dubbed a "good witch" and the other a "wicked witch." Now the fourth-longest-running Broadway show of all time, the musical celebrated its 20th anniversary in October 2023.
