'The Notebook' sets initial Broadway casting

UPDATE: The complete The Notebook Broadway cast also includes Andréa Burns, Yassmin Alers, Alex Benoit, Chase Del Rey, Hillary Fisher, Jerome Harmann-Hardeman, Dorcas Leung, Happy McPartlin, Juliette Ojeda, Kim Onah, Carson Stewart, Charles E. Wallace, and Charlie Webb, all in various roles.

They are and always have been our dreams! The Notebook musical has announced the first six cast members in the Broadway production at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Performances begin February 10 ahead of a March 14 opening.

Three actors will play each of the central characters, Noah and Allie, at various stages of their lives. The Notebook cast includes John Cardoza as Younger Noah, Ryan Vasquez as Middle Noah, Dorian Harewood as Older Noah, Jordan Tyson as Younger Allie, Joy Woods as Middle Allie, and Maryann Plunkett as Older Allie.

All but Harewood reprise their roles from the musical's pre-Broadway run at Chicago Shakespeare Theater in fall 2022.

Additional casting has yet to be announced.

Based on Nicholas Sparks's bestselling romance novel and its hit film adaptation, The Notebook musical follows Noah and Allie, who fight against class differences, distance, and time to keep their love alive for a lifetime. Bekah Brunstetter adapted Sparks's book for the stage, and Ingrid Michaelson wrote the music and lyrics.

Michael Greif and Schele Williams co-direct, and Katie Spelman choreographs. The Notebook also features scenic design by David Zinn and Brett J. Banakis, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Ben Stanton, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Mia Neal, and music direction by Geoffrey Ko. The music supervisor is Carmel Dean, who also collaborated on arrangements with Michaelson and on orchestrations with John Clancy.
