The Minutes, written by and starring Tracy Letts, begins performances on Broadway
The Broadway premiere of The Minutes is set for an official opening at the Cort Theatre on March 15, 2020.
The Broadway premiere of Tony & Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts' comedy The Minutes begins previews at the Cort Theatre tonight. The 2018 Pulitzer Prize-nominated play is scheduled for an official opening on March 15 and a limited engagement through June 14, 2020.
Synopsis: "The Minutes takes a look at the inner-workings of a city council meeting in the small town of Big Cherry—and the hypocrisy, greed, and ambition that follow. This powerful, resonant, and funny portrayal of democracy in action proves that everything you know can change—it's just a matter of minutes. After all, the smallest towns keep the biggest secrets."
As previously reported, the cast of this Steppenwolf Theatre production includes playwright Tracy Letts himself, alongside Ian Barford, Tony Award winner Blair Brown, Cliff Chamberlain, Tony Award nominee K. Todd Freeman, Golden Globe nominee Armie Hammer, Danny McCarthy, Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller, Sally Murphy, Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton, and Jeff Still.
The production, which debuted at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago in 2017, also reunites Letts with Tony Award-winning director Anna D. Shapiro for the first time on Broadway since 2007's August: Osage County.
The creative team for the Broadway premiere features scenic design by David Zinn, costume design by Ana Kuzmanic, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, sound design and original music by André Pluess, hair & wig design by Tom Watson, and dramaturgy by Edward Sobel.
The Minutes is produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards, Rebecca Gold, Carl Moellenberg, Spencer Ross, Steve Traxler and Jacob Soroken Porter.
The Minutes Tickets are available now for performances through June 14, 2020.
