"Sacrament of Memory" by Peter John Cameron at Dicapo Opera Theatre from 16 to 26 Oct 2003

Thu 9 Oct 2003 "Sacrament of Memory" by Peter John Cameron at Dicapo Opera Theatre from 16 to 26 Oct 2003 Blackfriars Repertory Theatre presents The Sacrament of Memory, by Peter John Cameron , at Dicapo Opera Theatre (Off Broadway) Thu 16 to Sun 19 Oct and Fri 24 to Sun 26 Oct 2003 Directed by Peter John Cameron, it is a play of courage and conviction about the life of Therese Martin, a 19th Century Carmelite nun known to millions as St. Therese of Lisieux or The Little Flower. Born in France in 1873, Therese should by all accounts have lived an anonymous life, in a convent in an obscure town---not achieving lasting devotion from millions throughout the world. The Sacrament of Memory illustrates the religious and political world, which surrounded Sister Therese. She was transformed from a child of privilege---coming to understand how small, daily acts of love were just as important as great deeds of magnificence, in finding meaning in life. Following her death at age 24 from tuberculosis in 1897, her message of 'The Little Way' spread, attracting millions of adherents.
