Rachel McAdams will star in the Broadway premiere of Amy Herzog's Mary Jane this spring. Manhattan Theatre Club will present the play at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning April 2; opening night has yet to be announced.

McAdams is best known for her Oscar-nominated performance as Sacha Pfeiffer in Spotlight and for roles in The Notebook, Mean Girls, The Time Traveler's Wife, and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret., among dozens of other acclaimed screen credits.

McAdams now makes her Broadway debut as Mary Jane, a single mother in a difficult family situation. She relies on optimism, humor, and her found family of female friends for support — but is it enough?

Playwright Amy Herzog is a Pulitzer Prize nominee for 4000 Miles. She was a 2023 Tony nominee for adapting Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House for Broadway, and she also adapts his An Enemy of the People for a new Broadway production in 2024.

Anne Kauffman directs; she is known for staging the Tony-nominated revival of The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window earlier this year.
