
Orfeh to join 'Chicago' Broadway cast
The Tony Award-nominated stage veteran, known for Legally Blonde: The Musical, will join the long-running musical at the Ambassador Theatre later this month.
When you're good to Orfeh, Orfeh's good to you! Orfeh will join the cast of Chicago on Broadway for a limited run, beginning performances August 26 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Orfeh is best known for her Tony Award-nominated performance as Paulette in Legally Blonde: The Musical. Her other Broadway credits include Pretty Woman: The Musical as Kit DeLuca, Love, Janis as Janis Joplin, and Saturday Night Fever as Annette. She also has a Grammy nomination for performing in a Hair benefit concert, and she's appeared on screen in Law & Order: SVU and Sex and the City.
Now, she will play Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago, replacing NaTasha Yvette Williams. The current cast also includes Ariana Madix as Roxie (with Alyssa Milano stepping into the role from September 16), Robyn Hurder as Velma Kelly, Max von Essen as Billy Flynn, Red Concepción as Amos Hart, R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine, and Max Clayton as Fred Casely.
The longest-running musical currently on Broadway, Chicago follows housewife Roxie and vaudevillian Velma during their time in prison for murdering their lovers. To get acquitted, they compete for the attention of a sharp lawyer and the sympathy of the public and press — becoming overnight stars in the process.
