The musical about Michael Jackson reached the milestone today, having begun performances on Broadway in December 2021. The show takes place at rehearsals for Jackson's Dangerous World Tour, where a documentary crew arrives to film. As Jackson opens up, key moments from his life and career come alive by way of his hit songs, including "Bad," "Thriller," "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and many more.
"MJ is the platinum standard," New York Theatre Guide's critic wrote in a five-star review, adding that it "is the perfect salutation to the life of an imperfect but gifted icon."
The show, featuring a book by Lynn Nottage and direction and choreography by Christopher Wheeldon, won four 2022 Tony Awards, including Best Choreography.
