UPDATE: Will Swenson will play Neil Diamond in A Beautiful Noise in Boston.

A brand new musical based on the life and career of Neil Diamond will receive its world premiere next year. Titled A Beautiful Noise, the production will run for four weeks at Boston's Emerson Colonial Theatre in summer 2022, ahead of a Broadway transfer.

Speaking about the musical, Neil Diamond said: "I've had the joy of coming to Boston on countless occasions, but one of the most special was my 2013 trip to Fenway where I had the honor of being part of a moment of relief, unity, strength, and love. Next summer, when A Beautiful Noise has its first performance at the Emerson Colonial Theatre, and we're all able to safely be in the same space together, experiencing the thrill of live theater, I imagine those same emotions will wash over me and the entire audience."

From his first live performance in Massachusetts in 1967, Neil Diamond has played concerts in Boston and the surrounding cities each decade of his performing career. But, how did a Brooklyn kid become a world renowned showman? With songs including "Sweet Caroline", "Song Sung Blue" and "I'm A Believer", A Beautiful Noise will celebrate Diamond's incredible stage presence, as well as the emotional attachment Bostonians have with Diamond's music.

A Beautiful Noise is written by Anthony McCarten, with direction by Michael Mayer and choreography by Steven Hoggett.

A Beautiful Noise will run at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston from June 21 - July 17, 2022. The musical will then transfer to Broadway, with casting, a venue and performance dates to be announced.
