Welcome back to the Land of Lola! The Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein musical Kinky Boots will return off Broadway this summer at Stage 42. Performances begin July 26 ahead of an August 25 opening night.

Kinky Boots, the lively story of a shoemaker who revives his floundering business by making high heels for drag queens, was adapted from the 2005 film of the same name. The musical adaptation first ran at Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theatre from 2013 to 2019.

The show won six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Choreography for director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell, and Best Actor in a Musical for Billy Porter as the drag queen Lola. When Lauper won Best Score, she became the first woman to do so without co-writers.

The four-star New York Theatre Guide review reads, "These people are marinating in joy, and each performance is devoted to lifting you waaaaay up."

Casting for the Off-Broadway revival has yet to be announced, but Mitchell will return to direct.
