The shoe factory is shutting down. The Off-Broadway revival of Kinky Boots at Stage 42 has set a closing date. The final performance will be November 20, according to social media posts announcing the news.

In the Kinky Boots musical, Charlie Price finds an unlikely solution to save his failing shoe factory: making sturdy heels for men. With the help of drag queen Lola, he makes the factory a little more fabulous and accepting, as the factory workers learn to walk in the shoes from those different than them.

Kinky Boots, which features music by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, enjoyed a six-year Broadway run, from 2013 to 2019. The show won six Tonys, including Best Musical and Best Original Score for Lauper, making her the first woman to earn that award solo.

Jerry Mitchell, who directed and choreographed the Broadway production, returned for the Off-Broadway revival, which began performances this past July. A four-star Kinky Boots review on New York Theatre Guide reads, "Kinky Boots still has its big, glittery heart intact. And amid recent anti-LGBTQ legislation, the musical and its message of acceptance are more powerful and necessary."

The Off-Broadway cast of Kinky Boots includes Christian Douglas as Charlie Price, Callum Francis as Lola, Danielle Hope as Lauren, Brianna Stoute as Nicola, Sean Steele as Don, and Marcus Neville as George.
