Irene Sofia Lucio completes 'Disruption' Off-Broadway cast

The Liberation Drama Desk Award winner joins John David Washington, Conrad Ricamora, Elizabeth Stanley, and more in Andrew Stein's New York-premiere tech thriller.

Drama Desk Award winner Irene Sofia Lucio completes the cast of Disruption off Broadway, a new thriller play running at the Pershing Square Signature Center from July 22 to September 13. Opening night is August 2.

Lucio is best known for starring in both Broadway runs of Jeremy O. Harris's Slave Play and the Off-Broadway and Broadway premieres of Bess Wohl's Tony- and Pulitzer-winning Liberation, for which she won the 2025 Drama Desk Award for Best Ensemble alongside her co-stars.

In Disruption, Lucio plays Mia and joins the previously announced Jason Ralph (The Magicians) as Barry, Tony Award nominee Conrad Ricamora (Oh, Mary!) as Ben, Jasmine Sharma as Raven, Tony nominee Elizabeth Stanley (Jagged Little Pill) as Jill, Joe Tippett (Mare of Easttown) as Paul, Golden Globe nominee John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman, The Piano Lesson) as Nick, and Shaunette Renée Wilson (The Resident) as Suzie. Octavia Chavez-Richmond, Carman Lacivita, Lauren Marcus, and Brian Miskell are newly announced as understudies.

Andrew Stein's Disruption follows tech entrepreneur Nick, who made a big exit from Silicon Valley and now has a new invention: a complex algorithm to help people make life decisions better than they can. When he pitches the idea to his three best friends, it prompts questions about how well technology can, and should, really know us.

As previously announced, the creative team includes director Hersh Ellis, set and costume designer Zoë Hurwitz, lighting designer Reza Behjat, sound designer Caroline Eng, video designer Yana Biryükova, property designer Samantha Shoffner, and movement coordinator Ryan VanDenBoom.
