The new play, presented by Roundabout Theatre Company and written by Broadway-debut playwright Noah Haidle, will offer same-day rush tickets on TodayTix throughout its run. Performances begin March 18 ahead of an April 10 opening night, and the show runs through May 29 at the American Airlines Theatre.

A limited number of $29 rush tickets are available on the TodayTix app each day. Users can download the app and "unlock" the rush program by posting about it on social media before their desired performance day. Each morning at 10 a.m., rush tickets will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis; users can set an alert to be notified when the rush opens each day. Users can request up to two tickets each, and seating locations are subject to availability.

In Birthday Candles on Broadway, Debra Messing stars as Ernestine Ashworth, who grows up 90 years — from age 17 to 107 — in the course of the 90-minute play. In that time, she bakes a single birthday cake the way her mother taught her, and it's the only constant in her life as friends, lovers, and family come and go throughout the different stages of her life. Each scene sees Ernestine on a different birthday, and she continually reevaluates what makes life worthwhile as she experiences love and loss.
