Atlantic Theater Company announces casting for 'English' off Broadway

The world-premiere play will begin performances on February 3, 2022.

The world-premiere production of English at Atlantic Theater Company has found its cast. The cast includes Tala Ashe as Elham, Ava Lalezarzadeh as Goli, Pooya Mohseni as Roya, Marjan Neshat as Marjan, and Hadi Tabbal as Omid.

English follows a group of four adult students in an Iranian classroom, all of whom are preparing for the Test of English as a Foreign Language. They work to attain fluency through word games, show and tell sessions, and listening exercises, but learning English may sooner complicate their identity rather than complete it. The show marks playwright Sanaz Toossi's New York debut, beginning performances on February 3, 2022 ahead of a February 22 opening. Performances will run through March 13.

The play features scenic design by Marsha Ginsberg, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Reza Behjat, and sound design by Sinan Refik Zafar.
