
Richard Thomas stars as Elliott Emerson in The Balusters on Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre from March 31, 2026.
Thomas is best known for his onscreen role as John-Boy Walton in The Waltons, for which he earned two Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy Award nominations, winning once. However, he also has a long theatre career. Since making his Broadway debut as a child in Sunrise at Campobello in 1958, he has appeared in more than a dozen other Broadway shows.
His stage roles include Hubert Humphrey in The Great Society, Horace Giddens in The Little Foxes, Peter Stockmann in 2012's An Enemy of the People, Mr. Webb in Our Town, and more.
