
Richard Thomas is best known for his onscreen role as John-Boy Walton in The Waltons, for which he earned two Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy Award nominations, winning once. However, he also has a long theatre career. Since making his Broadway debut as a child in Sunrise at Campobello in 1958, he has appeared in more than a dozen other Broadway shows.
He earned Tony Award nominations for his performances as Horace Giddens in The Little Foxes in 2017 and Elliott Emerson in The Balusters in 2026. His other stage roles include Hubert Humphrey in The Great Society, Peter Stockmann in 2012's An Enemy of the People, Mr. Webb in Our Town, and more.
