About Bug

Get Bug tickets to see TV star Carrie Coon in the highly-anticipated Broadway debut of this taut drama, written by Coon's husband, Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts. Bug in New York marks Letts' returns to Broadway after his highly acclaimed plays The Minutes and August: Osage County, which became an Oscar-nominated film starring Meryl Streep. Now, Coon returns to Broadway after her Tony-nominated turn in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, also opposite her husband, to lead this psychological drama about an intense affair between a lonely waitress and a mysterious drifter.

Tony Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit) directs Bug on Broadway, in which Coon plays a waitress who falls in an unsuspecting romance. What begins as a simple connection between two broken people in a seedy Oklahoma motel room twists into something far more dangerous. When reality slips out of grasp, paranoia, delusion, and conspiracy take over in this sexy psychological thriller. The New York Times warns, "Buckle up and brace yourself because Bug is obscenely exciting."

Coon, a stage veteran known for starring in hit HBO series like The Leftovers, The Gilded Age, and The White Lotus stars alongside Namir Smallwood, Randall Arney, Jennifer Engstrom and Steve Key. All five actors also appeared in the Chicago premiere of this new production. The Broadway transfer plays this winter at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theater.

Bug will make its Broadway debut 30 years after it was first staged in London. The play has had several productions since, including off Broadway in 2004, and it was adapted into a film in 2007. (Both starred Michael Shannon.) The Steppenwolf production, which also starred Coon, began in 2020, was shut down by the Covid pandemic, and then resumed performances in late 2021.
