A Woman Among Women tickets

See the remounting of this acclaimed new play. A Critic's Pick in The New York Times, A Woman Among Women off Broadway now comes to Lincoln Center Theater's Claire Tow Theater starting this May. A riff on Arthur Miller's All My Sons, Julia May Jones's A Woman Among plays for a limited run and offers "that rare thing onstage: fresh stories freshly told," per The New York Times.

A Woman Among Women in New York follows Cleo, who heads a local wellness center. She is a community fixture, highly praised and admired. But over the course of a summer day in rural Massachusetts, she greets neighbors, friends, and family but must also contend with old secrets slipping out that threaten to tear her world, and loved ones, asunder.

A Woman Among Women challenges its audiences to participate in the making of a tragic hero, experience her fall from grace, and interrogate the meaning of collective catharsis. The play, directed by Sarah Cameron Hughes, is also part of Jonas’s cycle of five “response plays” that reimagine five classic male-experience plays for other people (mostly women).

A Woman Among Women marks the playwright's return to Lincoln Center Theater; she is also the acclaimed author of Vladimir, named one of the "Best Books of 2022 (so far)" by Time Magazine.

Her play received rave reviews after its premiere at The Bushwick Starr, where it reopened that theatre's new home. Vulture called A Woman Among Women "playful, idiosyncratic, and ultimately wrenching," and The New Yorker said, "Julia May Jones examines our cultural patrimony through a feminist lens — one so tightly focused that it burns."

Now, the hit play returns to New York.
