Get Burnout Paradise tickets on New York Theatre Guide to experience the singular, thrilling, and hilarious return engagement of the global phenomenon. After playing at Edinburgh Fringe, debuting in North America at Brooklyn's St. Ann's Warehouse, and touring the country and world, the landmark play returns to New York City this winter and spring. Burnout Paradise plays at the Astor Place Theatre in downtown Manhattan.
In Burnout Paradise, what starts as a simple wager between audience and performer grows into something funnier, darker, and timelier. Can four performers complete a series of tasks while collectively running 20 kilometers on a treadmill? If they can't, the audience wins, and the tasks are funky: shampooing hair, reciting Hamlet's monologue, walking a dog (and picking up its poop). All of this reveals, in a staggering and messy spectacle, the stuff of daily life and how hard it is to balance multiple gigs, personal care, and professional growth in 2025. It's funny, and too real.
Burnout Paradise in New York comes from the Australian company Pony Cam and has been met with critical acclaim. New York Theatre Guide's review wrote the actors' "antics lead to expected hilarity as well as reflection: Can they get it all done before the clock runs out? Does it really matter if they miss a thing or two? Is the show more about proving to others that you can have it all, or proving it to yourself?" As the actors run headfirst into, instead of away from, their problems, grander themes emerge.
Claire Bird, Ava Campbell, William Strom, Dominic Weintraub, and Hugo Williams perform the New York remount of this special production. Chaotic and spontaneous, the performance breaks labor down into four categories for its sweating actors: admin, survival, leisure, and performance. Can they juggle it all? Find out before time runs out.

“Pure chaotic joy that makes you forget everything else”
Audiences are absolutely losing their minds over this wildly original theatrical experience that defies categorization. The premise is brilliantly simple yet endlessly entertaining: talented performer...
LOVED this show and wish it was playing for longer. The actors are incredible, probably logging 40 miles a week - I run marathons and that's the mileage for the peak week of marathon training! I watched this show during a particularly stressful workweek and it unfortunately did not make me feel any less stressed, but I got so much enjoyment and laughed so much from the insanity and audience participation. The energy of the audience was electric, it felt like we were all wanting to help and thoroughly enjoying the experience. I really hope this show returns to NYC.
Makes you think about running more.
It's a unique and memorable experience!
