In 1971, Melvin Van Peebles' Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death transformed the Broadway scene forevermore. Considered to be one of the most shocking musicals ever, Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death magnified the African American experience and put it on the stage. 50 years later, Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death will return to Broadway next year, with Van Peebles' son Mario serving as creative producer.
