‘Thoughts of a Colored Man’ to open at Golden Theatre in October, with full casting named
Forrest McClendon and Keith David will star in the Broadway premiere.

The Broadway premiere of Keenan Scott II’s Thoughts of a Colored Man has confirmed that it will open in the upcoming season. Thoughts of a Colored Man will begin previews at the Golden Theatre from October 1, ahead of an opening night on October 31. Find out more about Thoughts of a Colored Man tickets on Broadway here.
Set in Brooklyn, Thoughts of a Colored Man follows seven Black men as they fom a brotherhood by sharing their feelings and stories. The production blends traditional prose with spoken word, slam poetry and comedy into a multi-generational play.
The ensemble cast stars Forrest McClendon, previously nominated for a Tony Award for The Scottsboro Boys. Keith David also stars, best known for Greenleaf and Jelly’s Last Jam. Dyllón Burnside, Bryan Terrell Clark, Da’Vinchi, Luke James, and Tristan “Mack” Wilds complete the lineup.
Thoughts of a Colored Man made its world premiere at Syracuse Stage, later transferring to Baltimore Center Stage. The upcoming Broadway transfer at the Golden Theatre will mark Keenan Scott II’s Broadway writing debut, with a Broadway directorial debut for Steve H. Broadnax III.
