'Lackawanna Blues' postpones opening night
The production will open October 7.
Lackawanna Blues has postponed its opening night, originally scheduled for tonight. The show, which features Ruben-Santiago Hudson in a solo performance, will now open October 7.
On Friday, September 24, the production announced that Santiago-Hudson had sustained an injury and canceled that weekend's performances. Though he is now performing again, the opening has been pushed back "continues to recover and works his way back to his original performance prior to his injury," a representative of the production said.
Lackawanna Blues began performances September 14 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Accompanied by a live blues guitarist onstage, Santiago-Hudson tells the story of "Nanny," the woman who raised him. He plays himself, Nanny, and dozens of other residents at Nanny's boarding house during the course of the show.
Lackawanna Blues tickets are on sale now.
