They'll call her wonderful! Brittney Johnson will step into the role of Glinda in Wicked on Broadway beginning February 14. She will take over from Ginna Claire Mason, who is currently starring as Glinda.

Johnson's past Broadway credits include Les Misérables, Motown, Sunset Boulevard, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls. She is currently in Wicked as the standby for Glinda, and when she assumes the role full-time in 2022, Johnson will be the first Black actress to do so on Broadway.

Wicked has been playing at the Gershwin Theatre since 2003, and the musical has since become Broadway's fifth-longest-running show and a fan favorite. Before being dubbed the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda and Elphaba were best friends and roommates, though they got off to a rocky start. Wicked narrates how they grew together and apart before Dorothy arrived in Oz.

In addition to Mason, the current principal cast of Wicked includes Lindsay Pearce as Elphaba, Alexandra Billings as Madame Morrible, Michael McCormick as The Wizard, Sam Gravitte as Fiyero, Jordan Barrow as Boq, Mili Diaz as Nessarose, and Michael X. Martin as Doctor Dillamond.
