Is a Bee Gees biomusical in the works for Broadway?
The music of The Bee Gees may well be "Stayin' Alive" for many years to come thanks to a reported biomusical in development by Universal Theatrical Group. Although there is no timeline or casting yet for this exciting project, we thought we'd share with you newly emerged details of what we know so far.
Universal Theatrical Group recently required the rights to develop the musical, which will be based on the life story and greatest hits of The Bee Gees, Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb & Maurice Gibb. In addition, Barry Gibb - the only surviving member of the group - has also been enlisted to serve as Executive Producer. The biomusical has also been approved by Yvonne Gibb (Maurice's widow), and the Estate of Robin Gibb, represented by his widow Dwina.
Mr. Gibb released the following statement: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our family. I’m personally very excited to be a part of the creative process along with Yvonne and Dwina. It’s another adventure for us and a chance to throw the spotlight on all my brothers and finally the real story of us will be told. It’s an honor to be working alongside the people I most respect. I can’t wait to get started!"
