UPDATE: As of March 16, 2023, this production has been postponed indefinitely and will no longer go up on Broadway in the 2022-23 season.

Adrienne Warren is in the room! The Tony Award-winning actress will star in the new Broadway play Room this spring. Performances run at the James Earl Jones Theatre from April 3 to September 17, with opening night on April 17.

Warren is best known for her performance in the title role of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical on Broadway, for which she received Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She also performed on Broadway in Shuffle Along (receiving a Tony nomination) and Bring It On, and on screen in The Woman King and Women of the Movement.

Room follows a woman who has been locked in a room for seven years after being kidnapped as a teenager. She also has a son, whose entire world is the room, and together they must finally face the world outside.

The Room play premiered in 2017 in London, England, with productions in Dublin, Glasgow, Toronto, and London (of Ontario, Canada) following. The play is based on the same-named bestselling 2010 novel and Oscar-nominated 2015 movie starring Brie Larson.

Emma Donoghue wrote both, and she also wrote the script for the stage adaptation. The play also features music by Kathryn Joseph and Cora Bissett, who also directs.
