The Public Theater has set the complete cast for the first show in its 2024 Off-Broadway season, Itamar Moses's The Ally. The world-premiere production runs from February 15 to March 10, with opening night on February 27.

The complete cast of The Ally includes Josh Radnor as Asaf, Cherise Boothe as Nakia/Rabbi, Elijah Jones as Baron, Michael Khalid Karadsheh as Farid, Joy Osmanski as Gwen, Ben Rosenfield as Reuven, and Madeline Weinstein as Rachel.

The creative team, led by director Lila Neugebauer, includes scenic designer Lael Jellinek, costume designer Sarita Fellows, lighting designer Reza Behjat, sound designer Bray Poor, and prop manager Claire M. Kavanah.

The Ally follows college professor Asaf, who finds himself in a personal and political dilemma when asked to sign a seemingly simple social justice petition that makes him question his place as a husband, an artist, an academic, an atheist, a Jew, an American, and a progressive.

The play marks Neugebauer's Public Theater debut and Moses's return to the Off-Broadway institution after his musical The Fortress of Solitude premiered there in 2014. He is also best known for writing the Tony-winning book to The Band's Visit.
