'Stereophonic' sets Off-Broadway cast

The world-premiere show about an up-and-coming band is by David Adjmi and features songs by Oscar nominee and Grammy winner Will Butler of Arcade Fire.

Playwrights Horizons has set the full Off-Broadway cast for its world premiere of the play with music Stereophonic. Performances run from October 6 to November 19, with opening night on October 29.

The complete cast includes Will Brill as Reg, Andrew R. Butler as Charlie, Juliana Canfield as Holly, Eli Gelb as Grover, Tom Pecinka as Peter, Sarah Pidgeon as Diana, and Chris Stack as Simon.

The creative team, led by director Daniel Aukin, includes scenic designer David Zinn, costume designer Enver Chakartash, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designer Ryan Rumery, music director Justin Craig, and vocal, text, and dialect coach Gigi Buffington.

Stereophonic is written by David Adjmi and features original songs by Will Butler, the Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated former member of the rock band Arcade Fire. The play is set in a recording studio, where a fictional rock band on the verge of a major breakthrough — which may also lead to their breakup due to the newfound pressure.

All the actors in Stereophonic are also musicians who will play Butler's songs live.
