Sarah Gancher's comedy at Vineyard Theatre takes place at the real-life Internet Research Agency in St. Petersburg, which deals in internet manipulation.
Vineyard Theatre has named the complete cast and creative team for the Off-Broadway-premiere production of Sarah Gancher's Russian Troll Farm: A Workplace Comedy. Performances run from January 25 to February 25, with opening night on February 8.
Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Christine Lahti (Swing Shift, Chicago Hope, Evil) stars in the play as Ljuba. The Russian Troll Farm cast also includes Renata Friedman as Masha, Haskell King as Egor, John Lavelle as Steve, and Hadi Tabbal as Nikolai.
The creative team, led by director Darko Tresnjak, includes scenic designer Alexander Dodge, costume designer Linda Cho, lighting designer Marcus Doshi, sound designer Darron L West, and video and projection designer Jared Mezzocchi.
Gancher's play is set at the Internet Research Agency, a former real-life Russian company that manipulates the internet for the country's interests. Russian Troll Farm marries workplace comedy and political satire in its story of how these employees create new identities and spread disinformation while dealing with workplace crushes and drama like anyone else.
